Rumors have been flying around for a while that Steam would become compatible with the iOS or Apple TV, and there’s also been rumors going about saying that Valve would be releasing the ‘Valve Box’, a console that could compete with Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony.
According to Apple Insider, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook visited the HQ of Valve today, making some fans wonder if these rumors hold any truth. (Especially with the Valve Box, since Valve is looking for hardware engineers). Apple has released some Steam only games on the Mac, most notably Portal 2. Valve has also reported saying their partnership in these endeavors have been nothing but good.
So, what does this mean? Are Apple and Valve planning to take over the industry with some wicked new tech? Is Apple finally going to stop being high and mighty and let an iOS/Apple TV-compatible Steam release (instead of using its Game Center to try and compete)? Or could nothing happen at all?
I personally think it’s the last option. But it would be cool if anything does come from this.
